Add nodejs version check (#58958)
There're some reports related to using incorrect Node.js version, sometimes users ended up in weird errors. As pkg manager like pnpm only gives a warning ` WARN  Unsupported engine: wanted: {"node":">=18.17.0"} (current: {"node":"v16.18.0","pnpm":"8.9.0"})` which is not easy to investigate the issue.

We're adding a version check at the beginning of the Next.js process so if Node.js version is mis-match the version specified in package.json, bail with error.

Examples

node 16.x
```
You are using Node.js 16.18.0. Node.js >= v18.17.0 is required.
```

node.18.16
```
You are using Node.js 18.16.1. Node.js >= v18.17.0 is required.
```

Remove render workers in favor of esm loader (#54813)
Currently we create separate workers to isolate `pages` and `app`
routers due to differing react versions being used between the two. This
adds overhead and complexity in the rendering process which we can avoid
by leveraging an `esm-loader` similar to our `require-hook` to properly
alias `pages` router to the bundled react version to match `app` router
when both are leveraged together.

This aims to seamlessly inject the `esm-loader` by restarting the
process with the loader arg added whenever `next` is imported so that
this also works with custom-servers and fixes the issue with custom
req/res fields not working after upgrading.

Compile Next.js core client-side files using default target (#48750)
### What?

Compiles Next.js core files using the same default target as client-side
files, ensuring that `async`/`await` and such are not turned into
generators.

The client-side files are all opted into compilation during dev/build
already so if you create a browserslist config that will still apply in
the same way. This change only changes the output of the core files.

### How?

Moved the default we use in Next.js into a separate `.js` file so that
it can be imported from the taskfile-swc plugin, this way we're using
the same defaults.

docs: fix minimum Node.js version to 14.18.0 (#48545)
fixes #42729

According to #42729, the minimum Node.js version of Next is `14.18.0`,
but some docs say `14.6.0`, and it's error-prone.
https://github.com/vercel/next.js/issues/42729#issuecomment-1309947579
pointed out it's a bug rather than wrong documentation.

But Node v14 is going to be EOF this month, so Next will update the
minimum version in the next major release.
https://github.com/nodejs/release#release-schedule

So I feel it's enough to only fix the documentation rather than fixing
the implementation to work with 14.6.0 as a temporary fix.

Bump minimum Node.js version to 14.6.0 (#41765)
We found a case where 14.0.0 breaking with private class methods, such
as:

```js
```

This feature was introduced in Node.js 14.6.0, so we can bump the

edge-ssr: bundle next/dist as ESM for better tree-shaking (#40251) (#40980)
Re-do of https://github.com/vercel/next.js/pull/40251

Edge SSR'd routes cold boot performances are proportional to the
executed code size.

In order to improve it, we are trying to optimize for the bundle size of
a packed Edge SSR route.

This PR adds ESM compilation targets for all Next.js dist packages and
use them to bundle Edge SSR'd route.

This allows us to leverage the better tree shaking/DCE for ESM modules
in webpack in order to decrease the overall bundle size.

This PR also enables minifying Edge SSR routes. Since we don't control
which minifier might be used later (if any), it's best if we provide an
already optimised bundle.

This is a 10ms cold boot win per my benchmarking script, which I'll put
in a subsequent PR.

Change server components convention from using `.server.js` / `.client.js` file extension to determine it's a server or client component to using `'client'` js literal as a directive for determine client components boundary.
React RFC: https://github.com/reactjs/rfcs/pull/189
New behavior doesn't consume `.server.js` as server components any more, if you're enabling `serverComponents` flag, every `page.js` in app dir will become server components by default. If you adding a `'client'` directive to the page, then that page will become a client component. This rule also applies to the normal js components, client components will require a `'client'` directive to indicate its identity, instead of having a `.client.js` extension.

Implement SWC transformer for server and client graphs (#40603)
This is an initial implementation of the Server Components SWC
transformer. For the server graph, it detects client entries via the
`"client"` directive and transpile them into module reference code; for
the client graph, it removes the directives. And for both graphs, it
checks if there is any invalid imports for the given environment and
shows proper errors.

With that added, we can switch from `next-flight-client-loader` to
directly use the SWC loader in one pass. Next step is to get rid of the
`.client.` extension in other plugins.

Fix interopDefault on jest object-proxy (#37002)
This fixes the interop default from https://github.com/vercel/next.js/pull/36877 on the jest `object-proxy` as it currently causes the below error when running tests in our `with-jest` example:

```sh
    TypeError: 'get' on proxy: property '__esModule' is a read-only and non-configurable data property on the proxy target but the proxy did not return its actual value (expected 'true' but got 'false')
```

Enable import assertion syntax parsing (#33750)
## Feature

Enable import assertion syntax parsing for ecmascript/typescript. Since webpack has already supported it, enable import assertion parsing and leave them to webpack to handle

#### Upgration
* tooling: `@swc/core`, `@swc/cli`, prettier to support importAssertion related flags
* typescript related: `typescript` >= 4.5
* babel related: `@babel/plugin-syntax-import-assertions`

Undo sourcemap change (#27690)
This undoes the change from https://github.com/vercel/next.js/pull/27623 since it appears to be breaking source maps from changing the sources field in the generated source map to a relative path causing it to break jest's source map handling as can be seen in the `test-unit` CI job [here](https://github.com/vercel/next.js/runs/3214076727).
